FDI has developed a suite of 14 infographics as part of its Educational Module for Other Healthcare Professionals project, highlighting the critical link between oral health and overall well-being. This initiative is made possible through the support of Haleon, whose enabled the creation and distribution of these practical resources. 

Designed for physicians, nurses, pharmacists, midwives, and allied health providers, the infographics present complex oral health concepts in clear, visually engaging formats to support integrated care and patient-centred practice. 
 

Grouped topics for practical use 

The 14 infographics are organized around four key thematic areas: 

1. Oral health across the lifespan 
   Covers age-specific oral health needs, including child oral health, adult oral health, and older adult oral health, as well as special considerations during pregnancy. 
2. Oral–systemic health connections 
   Highlights links between oral diseases and systemic conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, and the impacts of tobacco or medications on oral health. 
3. Prevention, screening, and early detection 
   Includes guidance on oral hygiene fundamentals, basic oral examinations, recognition of dental caries, periodontal disease, and early signs of oral lesions or oral cancer. 
4. Promoting interprofessional awareness and collaboration 
   Focuses on empowering healthcare professionals to integrate oral health into routine care, understand shared risk factors, provide patient education, and facilitate timely referral to dental professionals. 
    

Resources to empower interprofessional care 

By translating the scientific evidence into actionable guidance, these infographics help non-dental healthcare professionals: 

• Recognize oral health issues that may impact systemic health 
• Provide evidence-based advice and preventive guidance 
• Identify patients at higher risk of oral disease 
• Collaborate effectively with dental professionals
   

Advancing FDI’s Vision 2030 

This project aligns with FDI’s Vision 2030 strategy to integrate oral health into primary healthcare and universal health coverage frameworks. Through this initiative, FDI continues to provide practical tools to ensure oral health is recognized as an essential component of overall health and interprofessional practice.
