FDI releases concise two-page summary of advice sheet on STDs and the oral cavity
Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) remain a major global public health concern, particularly among adolescents and young adults. Designed as a practical resource for dentists and dental teams, the summary brings together the key information from the advice sheet in a quick-reference format. It outlines the main sexually transmitted diseases that may affect the oral cavity—including chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis, hepatitis, HIV, herpes simplex virus and human papillomavirus (HPV)—and highlights their oral manifestations, prevention strategies and the role of dental professionals in early detection and timely referral.
