FDI Launches 2026 “A Happy Mouth is…A Happy Life” Campaign as Closing Chapter of Three-Year Cycle
The World Oral Health Day (WOHD) 2026 campaign was officially launched during FDI’s World Dental Congress, in Shanghai, on 9 September.

Shanghai, 9 September 2025 — The World Oral Health Day (WOHD) 2026 campaign was officially launched in Shanghai, marking the third and final chapter of the 2024–2026 cycle under the unifying tagline “A Happy Mouth Is…”. Introduced in 2024, this campaign has aimed to inspire lasting, positive change by showing the vital role oral health plays in living a healthier, happier life.
With this concise and impactful message, FDI intends to simplify oral health communication and make it accessible to everyone.
From the mouth–body connection, to the mouth–mind connection, and ultimately, to how oral health supports well-being throughout life
Each year of the campaign has spotlighted a different dimension of oral health, aligning with global health priorities and building on the momentum of the WHO Oral Health Resolution adopted in 2021:
- 2024: “A Happy Mouth Is a Happy Body” — highlighting the strong link between oral and general health.
- 2025: “A Happy Mouth Is a Happy Mind” — emphasizing oral health’s impact on mental well-being.
- 2026: “A Happy Mouth Is…A Happy Life” — bringing the messages together to show how oral health matters at every age and stage of life.
Oral Health Across the Lifespan
WOHD 2026 will spotlight oral health as the basis of lifelong well-being — from a baby’s first teeth to a confident smile in older age. Oral health is far more than just healthy teeth: it shapes how we eat, speak, learn, work, and connect with one another.
The campaign will show that oral health matters for everyone, everywhere — no matter your age, income, or where you live. It is inseparable from overall health, influencing both body and mind. At its core is prevention: simple daily habits and regular check-ups that can make a lifelong difference.
As the culmination of the three-year cycle, WOHD 2026 will bring these themes together with one clear message: oral health is essential to living life to the fullest. A healthy mouth is the gateway to a healthy, happy life.
Keeping the theme of a movie inspired campaign: the return of toothie the beaver

Over the past two years, Toothie — FDI's beloved beaver mascot — has taken center stage in an engaging, movie-inspired campaign. In 2025, Toothie made a lively comeback with a new campaign set to the rhythm of a beat, where music played a central role in activities. The catchy anthem, “A happy mouth is a happy mind,” had people everywhere singing along, making the message both memorable and fun.
It was inspiring to see people around the world join in — singing, dancing, and spreading the word. Building on that momentum, we’re excited to take the campaign into its final year.
In 2026, the creative approach will once again spotlight Toothie in the final instalment of this movie-style campaign. This time, a brand-new song will drive the message forward, teasing audiences with an exciting “sequel” moment.
The campaign is designed to captivate diverse audiences, sustain its wide-reaching impact, and inspire people everywhere to prioritize their oral health while celebrating World Oral Health Day.
