Abstract :

Anterior diastemas are one of the most common esthetic problems regarding the smile attractiveness. Minimally invasive restorative treatment should be performed in this regard. Single visit direct composite restoration can be used efficiently to overcome this problem clinically. Moreover, clear aligners can be used pre-restoratively to correct the misalignment of the anterior teeth and also the overjet/overbite relations to minimize tooth preparations and increase the longevity of the restorations. This lecture will cover the direct composite restorations for the diastema closures from a-to-z. Treatment planning, Pre-restorative clear aligners, material selection, isolation, gingival retraction, adhesion, layering techniques, and finishing and polishing protocols will be discussed through clinical cases and scientific evidence.

Learning objectives :

  • To give the larticipant the ability to do a successfull treatment plan for the anterior diastema closure cases to achieve non-invasive restoration in a single-visit.
  • To learn the resin-based materials and application techniques to perform non-invasive single-visit diastema closure restorations.
  • To give the knowledge about the short-term, 5-to-5, pre-restorative clear aligner therapy and provide the advantages of it in terms if the non-invasive diastema closure restorations.
