Abstract :

The lecture will present multidisciplinary approaches in the aesthetic and functional rehabilitation of the maxillary and mandibular dental arches. Special emphasis will be placed on common indications for pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment, such as orthodontic extrusion, repositioning of teeth, malocclusion correction and diastema closure. Pre-prosthetic orthodontic treatment is an extremely important stage in the implementation of modern minimally invasive and additive dental medicine. Modern prosthetic rehabilitation aims to create an aesthetic functional solution that reduces the amount of hard tooth structure removal. In fact, pre-prosthetic orthodontics aims to re-establish the correct position/inclination of adjacent or antagonistic teeth, providing adequate space for prosthetic rehabilitation. Clear aligners therapy (CAT) represents a valuable tool in prosthetic case management with a conformal approach, as it allows clinicians to plan orthodontic movements that are guided by prosthetic outcomes. In this lecture, the concept of prosthetically guided orthodontics (PGO) will be presented.

Learning objectives :

  • Addressing the concept of prosthetically guided orthodontics
  • Evaluation of digital and analog guidance system for the multidisciplinary ortho-prostho approach
  • Assessment of modern prosthetic rehabilitation aims to create an aesthetic functional solution
