Universal Health Coverage Implementation: Compendium of Best Cases
Implementing Universal Health Coverage (UHC) in oral health is a difficult process for both policymakers and National Dental Associations (NDAs). There are very limited resources available that synthesize what currently exists in the world, and how NDAs can benefit from success stories during the implementation process. Addressing these challenges will ensure that health systems are reformed in conformity with the NDA / FDI’ s objectives & strategy.
Compendium of Best Cases
FDI’s Advocacy Task Team is currently developing an advocacy toolkit that provides NDAs with the tools and resources needed to support national advocacy efforts. It is designed to inform discussions with governments and policymakers so that oral health challenges are turned into opportunities and solutions, leading to improved oral health. The Public Health Committee will work in close collaboration with the Task Team to develop a compendium of best practice cases of UHC implementation in different countries.
Project objectives
To promote an understanding of UHC and PHC and the three key components of a comprehensive PHC approach (integrated health services, multisectoral policy, and action and empowering people and communities)
To compile the lessons learned from countries who have achieved universal coverage for oral health, by showcasing various examples of implementation from different countries.
